Privacy notice
The short version: no tracking cookies, no analytics scripts, and we never sell your data.
Who we are
Gear Out Yet is run by Microscopics Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales. Microscopics Ltd is the data controller for this site.
You can reach us at hello [at] gearoutyet [dot] com.
Browsing the site
- We don't use analytics scripts or advertising trackers, and the site doesn't set cookies.
- The site is hosted by Cloudflare. To deliver pages and keep the site safe, Cloudflare handles your IP address and basic browser details, as any web host does. It gives us traffic totals, like visits per day, but nothing that tells us who you are.
- Your "Shops in" choice is saved in your own browser so it's remembered next time. It stays on your device and we never see it.
- On your first visit, your browser asks Cloudflare which country you're in, so it can show local shops. We don't store that.
The weekly email (coming soon)
The newsletter isn't live yet. When it is:
- We'll only ask for your email address.
- We'll only use it to send the newsletter.
- You can unsubscribe any time, with a link in every email.
- We'll never sell it or share it for anyone else's marketing.
We'll name the email service we use here before it launches.
Emailing us
If you email us, we get your address and whatever you write. We use it to reply, and we delete it once it's no longer needed. Email to us is passed on through Cloudflare and Google (Gmail).
Shop links
When you click through to a shop, you're on their site and their privacy policy applies. Some links may be affiliate links, so the shop or its affiliate network may set its own cookies to record that you came from us. We don't get your name or contact details from them. More about affiliate links.
Why we can use your data
We run the site and answer emails because we have a legitimate interest in doing so. We'll send the newsletter only if you sign up for it, and you can change your mind any time.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- show you the data we hold about you
- correct it
- delete it
- stop using it
Just email us. If you're not happy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
